Homestuck characters are particularly popular to cosplay at anime conventions. Hussie invented an alien species, called trolls, that have a unique culture. Homestuck features a complex story and a large cast of characters, starring the four children John Egbert, Rose Lalonde, Dave Strider, and Jade Harley. The webcomic centers on a group of teenagers who unwittingly bring about the end of the world through the installation of a beta copy of an upcoming computer game. Homestuck is a webcomic written, illustrated, and animated by Andrew Hussie as part of MS Paint Adventures ( MSPA). Here are my Karkat horns that I made for a friend.A group of cosplayers portraying characters from Homestuck at MCM London Comic Con in 2014 They will not fall off! Not even when you are upside down.
Now wear them proudly! If you did everything well, you can easily move your head. If you cut them and glue or knot them back together, they will snap. Notice: do not cut the elastics, just knot them. Bend the paperclip a little, to make sure the elastics won’t get loose.
You simply knot an elastic to each end of the headband and use a paperclip to hold them together. I simply used two elastics to solve this. Try to put them on, they will fall off if you move! This is no problem though. Okay, so by now you will have noticed that the horns are way too heavy. Step 3: Making sure the horns are easy too wear Do not do this too tight, but not too loose either. I used a screwdriver to screw it all together. Inserted the screw at the other side of the headband, taking advantage out of the hole that the two apart pieces of the headband left me. So yeah, I placed the horn on top of the headband where I wanted it to be. No glue was used here, because once you attach the horns, the screw will keep everything in place. Then I attached the bolt to the headband. Do this carefully! You don’t want the sculpture to break. Okay, so I used a drill to make a little holl in the bottom of the horn. Also, this headband is nearly invisible when wearing it. I simply bought this at a local store so I am sure you can get something alike. Scroll down to see what I am talking about. It will break! Which is why I bought a headband that was actually two very thin headbands pasted together. Obviously, you can not cut in a hard plastic headband. Step 2: Attaching the horns to the headband The paint has to be dry when you apply this layer. I used varnish, but nailpolish is cheaper and can be found at any local drugstore. Nailpolish, varnish, hairspray and even glue. You can use any kind of protective layer you want. Also, this protects the paint! Which is very important. It has this realistic and wonderful effect. About 2/3 of the horn will be covered with this. Now you make the second layer with yellow orange. You are going to have to use three layers. Otherwise the thing will break.Īfter that, you paint the horns. Unless it is air dry clay, you have to bake it. Anyway, sculpt the horns and let dry and bake the clay.
